blog it forward…part 1

Lovelies,
So i signed up for this over a month ago, and yet am somehow surprised today has arrived. But, since my job is simply to share inspiration with you all, i think the workload is actually rather fun!
Here are things that inspire me, in an easy-to-read list type format:
1. Nature.
I mean, it’s perhaps a bit cliche to say “nature”, but really I am quite stimulated by the outside world: smells, colors, sound, snow, sunshine, clouds, sidewalks, trees. I love taking walks for this very reason and am happiest with no destination in mind for my wanderings.
2. Books and writing.
Stories, memoirs and poetry. Blogs. Blogs. Blogs.
3. Other artists.
Barry McGee, Chris Ware, Maira Kalman…
4. Music.
It’s too much a direct connection to my creative process to get all specific with lists of favorite bands, except to say that for any given body of work, I am generally listening to just one or two albums (or songs) on permanent loop.

Inspiring me: sunshine! shadows, a half-read book I can’t wait to pick up again, my pets loving on me, studio plans, barefeet, gardening, blooms, fresh fruit, teapots, road trips, morning, lavender, thrift shops, hand-loomed scarves, blue skies…

i’m inspired by honesty, by sentimentality, by creativity, by photography, music, film, art and by my kids
and by little moments, like when my son drank some apple juice and smiled one day, and i said, ‘i love that smile!’ to him, and he said, ‘my apple juice smile, mommy?’ those moments inspire hope and happiness. i also am inspired by nature, Sam, even if it is cliché

Your inspirations are all ones that I share with you. A wonderful summation of what influences you. The photo is so beautiful…a path that leads you towards the unknown…just like life itself.

Wonderful list! I think one of the most interesting things I’ve discovered from this whole blog it forward project is that we are all so similar. Music, nature, books, art; they seem to inspire everyone no matter who they are or where they live!
