the sparrow song…

I thought they were finches, but I looked them up on the computer at home and corrected myself: sparrows.
It seemed right somehow…
sparrow / spare / sparse
Their singing was a surprise to me, there must have been dozens of them in that single evergreen on the corner.
I had been lost in introspective meditations on winter sunlight.
It is so different from summer sun. Everything is still barren, skeletal even. There is so little greenery to saturate the spectrum that the sun casts pale, bleached hues instead. It has its own beauty.
The metaphor is not lost on me. There is a sense to the seasons, but just like with any growth (or yoga pose held too long) I want to skip ahead when it gets difficult or painful. We’ve all been hibernating a bit, working unseen on the roots of things, resting…
Yet, winter sun reminds me that everything ends, even winter.
Not yet, no, there are still many days to go,
but that light at the end of the tunnel is as sweet as sparrow song.
Love,
Sam

I love this ~ and I love the little birds that sing their songs in the bushes to surprise you. I had a very similar experience yesterday: walking by a little bush in a bleak landscape and being overcome with their cheerful chirps. Big City, collective experiences, I love it.
btw, I just wrote a post about how much I love my new stache cards. I am not all tech savvy with this stuff, but you should check it out

Lovely print. We have a little bird that sits outstide our window and goes “chirpy, chirpy, cheep cheep” – so funny! He’s not there everyday but I half imagine him to be a cartoon bird if i ever saw him

Birds are rather talkative creatures it seems! At least their voices are so lovely to hear.
