Show and Tell: Accordion!

Sam is playing the accordion! from sam wedelich on Vimeo.
Friends!
Do you like music? I really like music. I especially like accordions.
An accordion sounds like the offspring of a set of bagpipes and a harmonica.
I’m still pretty rough around the edges, but I really really wanted to share my new toy with you all.
Enjoy! (there’s more to come)
Love,
Sam

This is so, so, so, so wonderful. I’ve been wanting to learn accordion for a couple of years now, and seeing this just made me a little bit more eager. Thank you for sharing your gift! Pun intended!

Zan- Russ got mine at a little shop on the LES called “The Main Squeeze”…. You should totally start learning, we could form some sort of accordion guild!

Joint lessons! Though you’re miles ahead of me; I need to get through the squealing howly phase first. But thanks for the shop recommendation…

So wonderful! I am really impressed by how good you are for a beginner. I have a toy accordion and you’re inspiring me to pick it up, although I’m currently trying to teach myself how to play the ukulele. We could start a nerdy instrument internet band.

jen- YES to the nerdy internet band!
and to be fair, i played piano when i was younger, so accordion is not a totally foreign concept
p.s. my friends down the street play ukelele and accordion together!
p.s.s. i mailed your jar yesterday, so it should arrive whenever it clears customs, etc. let me know when it gets there!

Yay! That was so awesome! I have the hugest grin on my face watching you play. My dad used to have/play an accordian. After a long time being put aside and moved to all the houses we lived in, he donated it to a missionary down in South America somewhere. We sometimes still get letters from the missionaries telling us about the life of the accordian and how much joy it brings to the people around them.

my dad plays accordion, i love it. when we lived in greenpoint there was a large man across the street who sat shirtless in his window playing accordion all afternoon… now you have something to aspire to!
