Lost or Loss

I’ve been listening to the new Bon Iver/St. Vincent collaboration and the new Lykke Li song on repeat for a few days now. They both seemed to pull at a really strong feeling in me, a feeling of loss, of numbness… of a heavy-heavy-heavy-heart.
I am a strong believer in hope and in beauty and life, but I cannot escape the other side of the coin: the poignancy found in contemplating our impermanence, our fleeting moments and that inescapable sense of brevity.
As painful as they are, I love the moments of feeling loss as much as I love to dream about joining the circus. What is hardest is the numbness and what is best is feeling the joy of acceptance and love in a community of friends/family.
But no matter what comes, at the end of every day I raise my glass to the adventure, to the daily story we are writing with our lives.
