getting the mbox

people in this house get very excited when packages arrive. russ is slowly receiving all of his ebay purchases, which, when complete, will allow him to start recording at our house. yay!

as for me, i'm in the girl of the month club this weekend, so i'm even less moody and grumpy than normal (and clearly a whole lot more sarcastic). ugh, at least i have a bag of dark chocolate to keep me smiling.

speaking of dark chocolate, russ and i watched the movie chocolat for the first time a few nights ago. it's a great movie! i recommend it for anyone to watch, it is beautifully shot and has a great story. plus, it's about chocolate, so who can resist?

anyhow, i'm off to enjoy the rest of my friday. i posted a new little watercolor drawing, so check it out if you like.

saturday morning

so this is what it looks like when my allergies overtake my body and practically leave me for dead. i shift into survival mode, which means books, piles of kleenex and pride & prejudice.

let me just say i feel like $%&*. it seems ridiculous that my allergies have gotten as bad as they have and even more ridiculous that they run me into the ground when i'm out of my prescription. it feels like a full-blown flu every time this happens and i hate it!

as to the pile of kleenex, i am aware that some people will find this absolutely revolting... russ being one of them. i guess i just feel like the pile serves as sort of a monument to how sick i am... the bigger the pile, the more sympathy i need... i am not sure which is worse though, the fact that i pile my sneeze-kleenexes on the couch or that i'm somehow emotionally connected to them... either way you should feel very sorry for me. :)

p.s. this is the first saturday in 3 weeks that it isn't raining buckets and i'm stuck inside. ugh!

getting off on the right foot

bribery cookies to get people here to like me. it works, what can i say? (i hope you all know i'm joking).

i just really like dessert and i like to make it and share it and see other people enjoying it.

p.s. i'll try to post the window pics tomorrow, as i tried taking pics today and it started raining. ugh!

new painting

here's a new piece i just made over the weekend. the description on flickr explains a little what it's about and i think that you can view a larger version of it on flickr to catch some of the details.

changes always seem to lend themselves to stirring up life, which in turn lends itself to making new work. there'll be more where this came from!

ode to the state of having no dishwasher

two things...

first, if you guys are wanting to see some things from my work, i set up a private section on my flickr site for friends and family to view only. to see it, you'll have to become a flickr member and then add me as a contact, when you do, i'll be able to mark you as friend/family and you'll be able to see that set of images! p.s. flickr is linked with yahoo, so if you already have a yahoo account, just use it to log on and then look me up.

second, well, this is where i was going to give an update on life here in miami. so, it is rainy season and it's no joke... it poured buckets today and russ and i discussed investing in some anoraks, as $1 ponchos are not going to cut it long term here and umbrellas don't protect against that sideways rain that happens here. ugh.

in other news, fireworks on tuesday were beautiful at the biltmore hotel & golf course, i learned how to make an omelet, i'm installing my first windows tomorrow morning, russ is turning 26 this month, a light bulb burned out in the kitchen, i now listen to npr daily, and i have a huge lump on my forehead and a mark from where i hit my head on the bathroom vanity door.
